With a great pleasure International Buddhist College staff and students participated in the celebration of Bangladesh-Thailand Shree Buddha Maitri: A Tribute to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on his 88th Birthday on December 09, 2015. The event was organized by the Embassy of People’s Republic of Bangladesh at Budhamonthon Auditorium, National Office of Buddhism, Phutthamonthon, Bangkok, Thailand.
Researchers from Bangladesh and Thailand presented papers in the morning session on the following topics:
Inaugural Session: “Bangladesh-Thai Shree Buddha Maitri: Enhancing Cultural Connectivity”
2nd Session: “Buddhism in Bangladesh”
3rd Session: “Origin of Pali Language and Pali Studies in Bangladesh”
The second session was graced by the H.H. Most Ven. Somdet PhraMaharatchamongkhalachan, the acting Sangharaja of Thailand and H.H. Sanghanayaka (the supreme patriarch of Bangladesh) Suddhananda Mahathero, Abbot of Dharmarajika Buddhist Monastery, Dhaka. Both Holinesses gave welcome speech in the beginning followed by blessing through a Prayer Chanting along with Bangladeshi Bhikkhus living in Thailand for the good health, happiness and long life of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
In her Welcoming Remarks and Vote of Thanks, the Bangladesh Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, H.E. Saida Muna Tasneem said that embassy will continue to arrange such meaningful occasion for Bangladeshi and other national students who are studying in Thailand. In fact, through such celebration both Bangladesh and Thailand would like to enhance their cultural, economical, religious and socio-political relationship in the coming years.
H.E. Mr. Vira Rojpojchanarat, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Culture to the Kingdom of Thailand also participated in the celebration.
The celebration was ended with a devotional song offered by Bangladeshi Expatriate Community in Thailand dedicated to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
