On Friday, December 5, 2014, the International Buddhist College (IBC) celebrated the birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej or Rama IX- who is lovingly honored as the Father of all Thais - and thus celebrated as the National Father's Day. IBC celebrated this special day together with Professors, Lecturers, Staff and Students.
The celebration began at 9.00 a.m. with a religious ceremony: Lighting of lamps for the Triple Gem by Ven. Zhen Chan and for His Majesty by Prof. Tilak Kariyawansam. The ceremony continued with a series of activities till 10.00 am, such as Pali Chanting, Chinese Chanting, Tibetan Chanting and a short speech was given by Venerable Narong (Thai Student), on appreciation of the King’s great activities for the development throughout the country followed by cake cutting with light refreshment. The celebration ended with the documentary video on His Majesty which was made by BBC news.
We hope that we will be able to continue to celebrate such a meaningful ceremony in the coming years. Our sincere thanks to all the lecturers, staff, students and the organizing committee members for their various contributions and mutual support to make the King’s birthday celebration a great success.
