A. Entrance Qualifying Examination

B. Programs and Entry Qualifications:
1. Intensive English Program for Buddhist Scholars
Student requirements:
i. Excellent scholarship in Buddhist studies and philosophy in their respective traditions.
ii. Aspire to teach Buddhism in English or be involved with translation projects.
iii. May be monastic, ex-monastic or lay students.
iv. Demonstrate proficiency in both their native language and the literary language of their tradition.
v. A1 level of English will be a prerequisite for all applicants.
vi. Only serious students who have the motivation to commit for a minimum of three years to the program shall be considered, and priority will be given to those who wish to continue with the Intercultural Communication and Translation Program for another two years.
The application process will include all the usual documents for a college application: previous education and diplomas or certificates, letters of recommendation and essays. On top of this, final candidates will also be interviewed. Students will be asked how they plan to apply their training and what their future aspirations are.

2. Bachelor of Arts Degree Program
• A certificate of high school (Grade 6) or equivalent.
• A Pass in the English Proficiency Test or a TOEFL score of at least 550 or its equivalent.

3. Master of Arts Degree Program (English and Chinese Medium)
• A four-year Bachelor Degree from a recognized or accredited tertiary institution, with a minimum grade point average of 2.75
• Or Level Nine of Pāli certificate (For domestic applicants)
• A Pass in the English Proficiency Test or a TOEFL score of at least 550 or its equivalent.

4. Doctor of Philosophy Degree Program (English and Chinese Medium)
• Holders of Master’s Degree or equivalent, with good academic records (GPA of 3.5 or higher):
• Academic background in Buddhist Studies or other related fields are not absolutely essential but an asset.
• Proficiency in the English language as indicated by a TOEFL score of at least 550 or its equivalent.

C. Educational Assistance
Candidates who need financial support can apply to the Klintiendharm Foundation for educational assistance. Bursary application will be directed to the Klintiendharm Foundation for consideration. Foundation offers Metta Bursary i.e. 90% of the total fees payable to deserving new students. A bursary student has to pay remaining 10% fees to the IBC which is equivalent to 5,710 Baht for B.A. and 7,510 Baht for M.A. program. Obtainance of Metta Bursary for each subsequent academic year depends on the academic performance and conduct of the student.

Note: Bursary recipient will be asked to pay a caution fee (10,000Baht) to the Foundation. This caution fee will be refunded when he/she has successfully completed one full academic year in the program of studies. If the student drops out of the course or fails in the examinations, the caution fee will not be refunded.
